Join an established accounting firm and take ownership of compliance operations for a diverse SME client base
We are an established accounting firm serving small and medium-sized businesses, looking for a qualified and experienced Financial Accountant to join our team. This is a compliance-focused role where you will supervise bookkeeping staff, manage client compliance, and ensure accurate reporting — freeing up the practice owner to focus on advisory services.

Oversee bookkeeping staff and review reconciliations (bank, creditors, debtors, VAT, fixed asset registers)
Prepare and file VAT, PAYE/EMP201, EMP501, provisional and annual tax returns
Assist in drafting annual financial statements (IFRS for SMEs)
Handle SARS correspondence, queries, and audits
Maintain compliance calendars and ensure deadlines are met
Liaise with clients on day-to-day compliance matters
We're looking for a qualified professional with the right blend of education, experience, and independence.
BCom Accounting or equivalent qualification (essential)
2–5 years' practice experience in an accounting firm environment
Proficient in various accounting software systems
Strong technical accounting and tax knowledge, with ability to work independently
Experience supervising bookkeeping and junior staff members
Join a practice that values your expertise and invests in your professional growth.
Exposure to a wide range of SME clients across various industries, expanding your technical expertise and professional network
Independent, responsible role with clear pathways for professional development and advancement within the firm
Supportive and collaborative working environment with experienced professionals committed to excellence
If you're a detail-oriented accountant who thrives in compliance and enjoys managing client workflows, we'd love to hear from you.
